Fire brigades start to carry oxygen masks specially designed for pets

Fire brigades everywhere have relied on human oxygen masks to help revive pets when they have been found and rescued from smoke filled, burning homes… Up until now…

Pets are an important part to a lot of families and in the case of a fire within the home, it is a worry that pets will endure any suffering. However, fire crews in Surrey have started carrying oxygen masks that have been specially designed and produced for the use of pets suffering smoke inhalation. Non-profit company ‘Smokey Paws’ provided the masks to a few Surrey fire crews, thanks to a donation from a local resident.

The pet oxygen masks have been a thoroughly welcomed addition to the Fire Brigade, giving pets an even greater chance of survival. The masks could eventually be installed on fire engines across Surrey Fire and Rescue Service, and we hope the whole of the UK in time to come.
